Educating minds for 51 years since 1974

Mariners’ Polytechnic Colleges/Foundation (MPC/MPCF) was established through the vision and leadership of the late Commodore Jaime C. Jimenez, Sr., a retired Philippine Navy officer and advocate for quality education. Originally launched in 1974 in Manila as the Mariners’ Polytechnic School, it began with just 35 students.
Recognizing the need to provide accessible education to underserved regions, Commodore Jimenez transferred the school to Naga City in the Bicol Region. In March 1975, the institution was formally named Mariners’ Polytechnic Colleges, starting with 52 students in a small two-story building on Elias Angeles Street.
As demand for skilled seafarers grew, the school expanded quickly. By 1976, new equipment and instructors were added, and a 10,000 sq.m. lot was acquired for future growth. It began offering collegiate programs like BS in Marine Transportation, Marine Engineering, and eventually, Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.
In 1981, the Mariners’ Polytechnic Colleges Foundation (MPCF) in Canaman, Camarines Sur, was established to cater to increasing enrollment and enhance maritime education. This was followed in 1985 by the opening of MPCF-Legazpi in Albay.
